HOLIDAY PROGRAM AT ARIKANKI VILLAGE

On August 5, we kick-started our holiday program at Arikanki village. This is the next step in establishing Bramble Learning Space; the first alternative school in Nigeria. The process of making this happen has been challenging and worthwhile. Following the campaign launched on June 5 to mobilise plastic bottles to build two classrooms at the Learning space, we now have enough plastic bottles to start the first phase of the building.

The holiday program is organized in order to know more about the children and the community and also identify the first batch of learners at the learning space. The program which began on August 5, 2019, will end on August 30, 2019.

There has been an amazing record of attendance by the children in Arikanki and the surrounding villages for the holiday program. We had 55 children in attendance on the first day of the holiday program and we have record more children coming to learn.

The program has been so much fun and excitement, as children are been exposed to hands-on learning experience and projects. One of the learning activities we have had was wood art and carving where we produced cultural object through waste wood.

We hope to begin the building project in the coming weeks and by September, begin the first academic year. Community members, parents, and children will be greatly involved in the building of the learning space. We are excited at the progress of Bramble Learning Space and cannot wait to see it fully unfold.
